Giant-Carlisle Gives Store Ops SVP Achievement Award

Giant Food Stores of Carlisle, Pa. has bestowed the Nick Riso Outstanding Achievement Award to SVP, store operations Larry R. Stover at its annual business meeting.

According to Rick Herring, president of the Ahold USA division, Stover (left) “has demonstrated leadership and dedication throughout his 43 years with the company that mirror those standards of excellence set by Giant’s former president, the late Nick Riso.”

Nominees for the annual honor must demonstrate an outstanding record of contribution to the chain’s success through selfless dedication, honesty and equity toward others, and a cooperative spirit and concern for the betterment of the company and all Giant associates and their families. In addition, nominees must make significant and lasting contributions to the company’s long-term success and inspire others by personal example.

Stover joined Giant in 1968 as a part-time clerk at the Carlisle Food Market, rising through the ranks from district manager to regional VP to his current role.

Giant/Martin’s operates stores in Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia under the Giant Food Stores and Martin’s Food Markets banners, employing nearly 30,000 associates.
