Gerber Good Start Soothe
Gerber Products Co. in Florham Park, N.J., part of Vevey, Switzerland-based food giant Nestlé, has achieved a scientific breakthrough with the introduction of Gerber Good Start Soothe formula, the first and only routine infant formula featuring the probiotic L. reuteri, which has been clinically shown to reduce crying time by 50 percent in colicky breastfed infants. Since nearly 30 percent of infants experience colic, the Soothe formula offers a new solution for parents who’ve chosen to formula-feed. The milk-based product contains the Comfort Proteins Advantage, which makes it easy for babies to digest, as well as a carbohydrate blend with 30 percent lactose for fussiness and gas in lactose-intolerant infants. SRP ranges are $15 to $15.50 for a 12.4-ounce container of powdered formula and $23.50 to $24 for a 23.3-ounce container. Additionally, as part of an agreement with BioGaia, a Swedish healthcare company specializing in probiotics, Nestlé will launch Gerber Soothe Colic Relief Drops with L. reuteri. The arrangement allows Gerber to exclusively distribute the probiotic drops in the United States.
