General Mills Names Schlafer to Direct Bakery Channels Business
MINNEAPOLIS - Greg Schlafer has been named the new director/general manager of the bakery channels of General Mills' Bakeries & Foodservice division here.
In his new role, Schlafer will provide leadership for business segments, including in-store bakery, wholesale bakery, bakery flour and fresh bread solutions, and will oversee the Pillsbury Baking Institute. He was most recently segment director of the division's in-store bakery team, a position he has held since 2006.
Schlafer began his career with General Mills in 1991 as a distribution management assistant at General Mills' Vernon, Calif., flour mill, before moving into numerous sales positions within its bakery channels division, including his most recent post as director of bakery flour.
Currently a member of the board of directors of the North American Millers Association (NAMA) and the International Dairy-Deli-Bakery Association (IDDBA), Schlafer also spent two years serving the Retail Bakers of America (RBA) as an allied trades' representative on its board of directors.
