FreshDirect Starts Summer Delivery to the Hamptons

Long Island's Hamptons have long been a destination for heat-weary New Yorkers during the summer, so online grocer FreshDirect yesterday resumed its summer service to the resort towns for the 2008 season. FreshDirect in the Hamptons offers customers a wide assortment of barbecue-ready fresh foods, competitively priced groceries, and bulk items, according to the company.

The summer menu features such offerings as tuna kabobs, chef-prepared gourmet burgers catering platters, and cold beverages, saving vacationers time and effort.

Additionally, FreshDirect, which has delivered to the Hamptons since 2005, is extending its summertime delivery calendar this year, offering service through September. Delivery zones will include full service in the towns of East Hampton, Amagansett, Southampton, Bridgehampton, Westhampton, Sag Harbor, Hampton Bays, and select surrounding areas. Customers in these towns can schedule home deliveries between noon and 8 p.m. on Thursday and Friday or weekend deliveries from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. After Labor Day, limited home delivery service will continue through Sept. 30, with service available on Fridays.

Orders must be completed by 8 p.m. on the previous night. The minimum order for Hamptons delivery is $100, with a $14.99 delivery fee.

FreshDirect has over 250,000 customers and has fulfilled over 6 million orders since opening for business in September 2002.
