FreshDirect Rolls Out KidPower Meals

Online grocer FreshDirect has introduced KidPower, a line of children’s meals designed by chef Tina Bourbeau and approved by the Long Island City, N.Y.-based company’s nutritionist, registered dietitian Maggie Moon.

Made fresh daily with all-natural ingredients, KidPower meals contain a full serving of vegetables, along with a range of nutrients appropriate for growing bodies. Entrees include Chicken Teriyaki with Whole Wheat Noodles, Turkey Sweet & Sour Meatballs, and Falafel & Hummus.

To mark the product line launch and support children's art education and creativity, FreshDirect and The Children’s Museum of the Arts (CMA) will kick off the “FreshArt” initiative in the grocer’s delivery area of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut to encourage grade-school students to dream up artwork to celebrate the fun of sharing a family meal.

Three pieces of artwork -- one from each of the participating states -- will be chosen to adorn the sides of select FreshDirect delivery trucks. Additionally, a $1,500 monetary award will go the schools designated by the parents or guardians of the creators of the winning art. The designated schools must be located in the company’s delivery areas. A number of art entries will be exhibited in The Children's Museum of the Arts in the autumn. Entry forms and contest details are available at www.freshdirect.com/FreshArt.

“FreshDirect is committed helping our customers to feed their children right with fresh, wholesome, nutritious and delicious meals,” said FreshDirect chairman and CEO Richard Braddock, adding that the KidPower kids meal line ‘supports the great cause of healthy eating for children, sponsored by Mrs. Michelle Obama and [New York City] Mayor Michael Bloomberg.”
