FreshDirect Offering Romantic Valentine's Day Dinners for Two

LONG ISLAND CITY, N.Y. -- Instead of dining out at a bustling, crowded restaurant on Valentine's Day, New Yorkers can share an intimate, chef-prepared meal at home, thanks to online grocer FreshDirect's holiday meal packages. With all of the prep work already done and heating instructions included with delivery, even a culinary novice can whip up a three-course dinner for two after just 20 to 30 minutes in the kitchen.

The main courses are Surf and Turf and a Cheese Fondue Kit, with an appetizer and dessert. Chocolate fondue and Valentine's Day cupcakes are among the additional selections. Prices for the meals range from $69.99 to $99.99. Visitors to FreshDirect's site can also choose from the grocer's extensive wine and Champagne listings to accompany their meal.

"Valentine's Day is the perfect opportunity to share a home-cooked meal with someone special," said FreshDirect c.e.o. Steve Michaelson in a statement. "[F]or those seeking a home-cooked meal without the cooking, our chef-prepared options are a sure-fire resource for the quickest way to his or her heart."

The meals will be delivered from Feb. 10 to Feb. 13.

Employing nearly 1,700 workers, FreshDirect serves most of Manhattan and locations in Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island and the Bronx, as well as parts of New Jersey and Westchester, and Nassau counties. The company currently has over 250,000 customers and has fulfilled more than 6 million orders since opening for business in September 2002.
