FreshDirect Joins With City Harvest to Battle Hunger on the Job

FreshDirect at the Office, the corporate division of the online grocer and delivery service, announced it will support New York food rescue organization City Harvest's "Skip Lunch Fight Hunger" program by providing incentives to offices taking part in the one-day campaign May 14.

"Skip Lunch Fight Hunger" asks offices to donate a day's worth of lunch money to the cause. To encourage companies to donate, FreshDirect at the Office will offer a 15 percent discount on all catering platters to participating offices throughout the week of May 12 to May 16. The office donating the most money to the program will win $250 toward a lunch catered by FreshDirect at the Office.

Last year's "Skip Lunch Fight Hunger" raised $460,000, enough to feed 28,000 children throughout the city during the summer. This year the program's goal is to raise $600,000.

According to City Harvest, almost 350,000 New York City children don't have enough food to eat.
