The Fresh Market Keeps Growing
The Fresh Market is continuing to grow its specialty grocery store chain with new locations in Fishers, Ind., and Laguna Hills, Calif. The Indiana store will be the Greensboro, N.C.-based company’s fifth in the state, while the California location is its fourth signed lease there.
“From bountiful produce and a full-service meat counter, to convenient prepared foods and an in-store bakery, customers will discover that our stores are committed to variety, freshness and value as well as superior customer service,” noted Craig Carlock, The Fresh Market’s president and CEO.
“We look forward to building on the success of our other locations in the state, where we have enjoyed a strong and loyal customer base, and to providing customers in the Fishers area with the same quality products and excellent customer service,” said Randy Kelley, The Fresh Market SVP of real estate and development, of the Indiana store, which a company spokeswoman told Progressive Grocer is scheduled to open next year.
“We have no doubt The Fresh Market will be a very successful Fishers business,” added Fishers Town Council member Pete Peterson.
“We wanted a premier grocery store anchor as part of our repositioning of the center, and we found the ideal fit with The Fresh Market, which is just now coming to California,” said Fred Sands, chairman of Los Angeles-based Vintage Real Estate, whose shopping center, The Village at Nellie Gail Ranch, will be the venue for the grocer’s latest California location. “The Fresh Market will be a tremendous draw for this community and beyond.”
Slated to open in summer 2014, the Laguna Hills Fresh Market will be a 21,000-square-foot grocery store with an on-site bakery offering more than 30 fresh-baked breads daily, a full-service meat counter, more than 200 imported and domestic cheeses, fresh seafood, a large selection of organic produce, and a variety of ready-to-serve entrees.
The chain’s stores provide an atmosphere reminiscent of Old World European markets, with classical music and antique décor aiming to create a more welcoming shopping experience.
Additionally, the grocer has signed leases for new locations in Delray Beach, Fla.; Mt. Lebanon, Pa.; Lynchburg, Va.; and Lincolnshire, Ill., and opened a store in Daphne, Ala.
The Fresh Market currently operates 128 stores in 25 states, mainly located in the Southeast, Midwest, Mid- Atlantic, and Northeast, with plans for continued expansion throughout the United States.
