Fresh Madison Market Adds Ops Manager

Kristie Maurer has joined Fresh Madison Market’s management team as operations manager of the grocery store in Wisconsin’s capital city.

In this newly created role, Maurer will take on several roles, including human resources, sales and overseeing the daily operations of the store.

Maurer is no stranger to the grocery business. The daughter of store owner Jeff Maurer, she brings with her this second-hand knowledge of the business as well as hands-on business experience.

“The grocery business has been in my daily family life since I was little.” Maurer said. “As a daughter of a grocer who has been in the business over 30 years, the business seeps into dinner conversation and weekend outings on a regular basis.”

One of Maurer’s goals in this newly created position is to use this background to put new systems in place to help continue to improve team efficiencies and to increase the customer experience.

Maurer received her bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s College in South Bend, Ind., and recently completed her master’s in business administration from Indiana Wesleyan University. She worked for the state of Indiana as a mediator until three years ago, when she became a risk manager for a skilled nursing home company in Indianapolis.

“I am so excited for this new chapter in my life.” Maurer said. “My greatest ambition is to learn this business from my dad and all of the talented people surrounding him. I am also really looking forward to getting to know our customers. I want this store to stay family-owned and be an integral part of the community for a long time.”
