Fresh Brands' Senior Retail Officer To Retire
SHEBOYGAN, Wis. - Fresh Brands Inc. has announced that William K. Jacobson, senior VP of retail operations and development, will retire from his position on Feb. 14, 2003, and will retire from the company's board of directors effective immediately.
Jacobson has served the company in various capacities for over 31 years and following his retirement will serve as a consultant to the company.
"We are extremely grateful to Bill for his numerous contributions to the company and his dedication to its success over such a long career," said Elwood F. Winn, president and CEO of Fresh Brands. "In order to ensure a smooth transition of his duties, Bill will continue to serve in his role at the company until the naming of a successor. While Bill has elected to slow down and take life a little more easy, I am very pleased that going forward we will be able to utilize his extensive industry experience and talent in his continuing capacity as a consultant."
Said Jacobson: "I have certainly enjoyed my 31-plus years with the company and, although I will continue to work with the company as a consultant, I will miss the daily contact of both franchisees and associates who have become friends over the years."
Winn indicated that the company has initiated a search for a new senior retail officer and will seek an independent director candidate to fill Jacobson's seat on the board.
Fresh Brands Inc. operates 73 franchised supermarkets and 27 corporate-owned stores under the Piggly Wiggly and Dick's Supermarkets brands, three distribution centers, and a centralized bakery/deli production facility.
