Former T. Marzetti President Dies

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Larry G. Noble, the former president of retail and foodservice manufacturer T. Marzetti Co., died Sept. 28 at the age of 70.

Noble started his career in the food industry in 1958 with the Campbell Soup Co. In 1962 he joined Marzetti as a salesman and became president in 1974. He remained president until his retirement in 2003. In 1985 Noble became v.p. of Lancaster Colony Corp., Marzetti's parent company.

During his time as Marzetti's president, Noble oversaw the acquisitions of 14 food companies, growing sales to over $600 million. His passion for new products led to the creation of three product categories.

Noble was active in many professional organizations over the years, serving as chairman of the board of the Association for Dressings and Sauces and receiving their Lifetime Achievement Award. He was also a member such organizations as the Ohio State Center for Excellence in Manufacturing Management, the Columbus Manufacturers Association, the Columbus Sales Executive Club, and the Ohio Manufacturers Association.

T. Marzetti markets a wide variety of brands, including Marzetti, Girard's, Cardini's, Teresa's and Pfeiffer salad dressings, T. Marzetti dressings, croutons and dips, Slaw Dressing, Texas Best barbecue sauces, Jack Daniel's mustards, Romanoff Caviar, New York and Mamma Bella frozen garlic bread, Reames frozen egg noodles, Inn Maid egg noodles, Chatham Village croutons, and Sister Schubert's homemade yeast rolls.
