Former Randall's President to Join Winn-Dixie as Executive VP And COO

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Winn-Dixie Stores Inc. on Wednesday announced that Frank Lazaran will be joining the company as executive vice president and chief operating officer. In his new post, Lazaran will be directly responsible for Winn-Dixie's retail operations, sales and procurement, and manufacturing and distribution. He will report to Al Rowland, president and CEO.

"We are looking forward to Frank joining the Winn-Dixie team," said Rowland. "His experience and accomplishments make him eminently qualified for his Winn-Dixie responsibilities. We know that he will provide the leadership needed in today's extremely competitive grocery business."

Before joining Winn-Dixie, Lazaran was president of Randalls Food Markets Inc., a division of Safeway, in Houston, Texas. Randalls operates high volume stores under the Tom Thumb banner in the Dallas/Forth Worth Metroplex area and as Randalls in the Houston and Austin markets. Lazaran's 27 years of industry experience also include a broad background of management positions with Randalls and Ralphs Grocery Company in Compton, Calif.

Lazaran graduated from California State University in Long Beach, Calif., with a bachelor of science degree in business administration. He also completed the Executive Food Industry Management Program at the University of Southern California.
