Former P&G Exec Joins Kroger Board

CINCINNATI - Jorge P. Montoya, a 30-year P&G veteran, has been named a director of The Kroger Co. here, bringing to 16 the number of members that currently serve on the retailer's board.

Highly regarded for his expertise in consumer products, Montoya joined The Procter & Gamble Co. in 1971, during which time he has held various leadership positions in Latin America, Europe, and the U.S. He retired in 2004 after serving as P&G's president of global snacks & beverages and president, Latin America.

As a member of the board of directors for Rohm & Haas Co. and Gap, Inc., Montoya is also a member of the advisory board of the Haas School of Business/UC Berkeley, the Council of the Americas and the Youth Orchestra of the Americas (Washington D.C.).

Montoya was elected to serve until Kroger's annual meeting of shareholders in June 2007. At that time, he will stand for election by the shareholders.
