Former Hannaford C.F.O. Named to Viacom Board

NEW YORK -- Global entertainment content company Viacom, Inc. here said this week that it has elected ex-Hannaford veteran Blythe J. McGarvie as an independent member of the Viacom board of directors, effective April 12.

McGarvie was additionally elected to serve on the board's audit committee.

Currently the president and founder of Leadership for International Finance (LIF Group), a private consulting firm offering a global perspective on leadership, consumer markets, which she founded in 2003, and worldwide economic trends, McGarvie was e.v.p. and c.f.o. of BIC Group.

For five years before joining Bic, McGarvie served as s.v.p. and c.f.o. of Scarborough, Maine-based Hannaford Bros. Co.

"[McGarvie] brings an impressive record of accomplishment and financial expertise that will complement the capabilities of our current independent board members," said Viacom executive chairman Sumner Redstone in a statement.

As well as the Viacom Board, McGarvie serves on the boards of Accenture, Pepsi Bottling Group and The Travelers Companies, Inc. She is the author of "Fit In Stand Out, Mastering the FISO Factor: The Key to Leadership Effectiveness in Business and Life," published by McGraw-Hill in 2005.
