Former Exec Returns to Penn Traffic in New Role

SYRACUSE, N.Y., -- The Penn Traffic Co. said Friday that Dave Adamsen, previously a longtime executive with the regional supermarket chain, will return to the company to fill the position of v.p. of franchise/wholesale and bakery manufacturing.

"Dave has the knowledge, expertise, and understanding to support and expand our franchise/wholesale and bakery manufacturing businesses, which are becoming a more significant part of Penn Traffic" noted president and c.e.o. Bob Chapman in a statement. "He is very familiar with our operations and has demonstrated remarkable people skills and leadership qualities over the years."

In his new role, Adamsen will report directly to the Chapman and manage all functions in Penn Traffic's wholesale/franchise and bakery manufacturing operations.

In his earlier stint at Penn Traffic, Adamsen served for more than 20 years in several management positions, among them president and general manager of Penny Curtiss Bakery and v.p. of manufacturing. For the past eight years, he has worked for Dean Foods, rising to group v.p. of Dean Foods-Northeast Region three years ago.

Penn Traffic operates 109 supermarkets in Pennsylvania, central and upstate New York, Vermont, and New Hampshire under the Quality, BiLo, and P&C banners. The company additionally runs a wholesale food distribution business servicing 78 licensed franchises and 40 independent operators.
