Food Lion’s ‘Holidays Without Hunger’ Helps Feed Needy
Food Lion has joined with customers at its 1,100-plus stores to fight hunger through the Food Lion Feeds "Holidays Without Hunger" campaign, which runs Nov. 19–Dec. 23.
The campaign enables customers to buy and donate a specially marked Holidays Without Hunger food box for $5 while supplies last, or make a cash donation at checkout. All cash donations go to Chicago-based anti-hunger organization Feeding America and its network of local food banks, while the food boxes are sent directly to area food banks and agencies.
Working toward its goal of providing 500 million meals by the end of 2020, the grocer's Food Lion Feeds giving platform has already donated the equivalent of about 40 million meals through in-store campaigns, its food donation program, and local donations and volunteerism.
Salisbury, N.C.-based Food Lion operates stores in 10 Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic states, employing more than 63,000 associates. Food Lion is a company of Delhaize America, the U.S. division of Brussels-based Delhaize Group.
