Food Lion Picks Up Six Winn-Dixie Locations
SALISBURY, N.C. -- Food Lion, the Delhaize USA chain based here, placed successful bids for six Winn-Dixie stores at the bankrupt chain's auction held last week, a Food Lion spokesman told Progressive Grocer.
The stores include one in Baxley, Ga., and the rest in the following cities in North Carolina: China Grove, Greensboro, Dallas, Forest City, and Hildebran.
Food Lion has not yet determined how the locations will be used, spokesman Jeff Lowrance said. However, none of the markets are new ones for Food Lion.
Greensboro is one of the cities in North Carolina's growing Triad region, which Food Lion selected for its latest market relaunch. Last month Food Lion officially launched the group of 60 redesigned stores, which featured new decor packages and stepped-up fresh foods departments. Food Lion is running a campaign in the area with the tagline "Take a Fresh Look at Food Lion."
