Food Lion Names VP Meat & Seafood

Salisbury, N.C.-based Food Lion LLC, a division of the Delhaize Group, has named Hans Lefebvre v.p. of meat and seafood, reporting to Derrick Penick, s.v.p. of merchandising and distribution. Lefebvre replaces John Mercer, who has moved to another position in the company, a Food Lion spokeswoman told Progressive Grocer.

In his new role, Lefebvre will oversee all aspects of Food Lion's fresh meat and seafood programs, including sales, quality assurance, product assortment, new item selection, meat case presentation, and private label products. He is also charged with developing meat merchandising strategies to serve and meet the needs of customers at the company's 1,300 Food Lion, Bloom, and Bottom Dollar Food stores.

Lefebvre joined Food Lion LLC in 2003 and has served as a produce merchandising manager, director of research, director of renewal and prototype development, and director of merchandising and training for Bloom. Prior to that, he worked for Food Lion's sister company Hannaford and Kash n' Karry.
