Food Lion Appoints S.V.P.s
SALISBURY, N.C. -- Food Lion said yesterday it has given two of its senior vice presidents new roles. Meg Ham has been named s.v.p. of retail operations, while Derrick Penick is now s.v.p. of merchandising and distribution.
Both Ham and Penick report to Cathy Green, Food Lion's newly named c.o.o.
In her new position, Ham oversees Food Lion's five retail operations divisions. The chain's division-level vice presidents of retail operations, and its v.p. of retail services, no report to Ham.
Ham joined Food Lion in 2000. Since then, she has served the company as s.v.p. of dry merchandising, responsible for perishable and non-perishable product procurement and merchandising. She has been active in the strategic positioning of Food Lion, developing pricing strategies, integrating the supply chain, and leading efforts to maximize in-store merchandising.
Prior to working for Food Lion, Ham was with Hannaford Bros. Co. for more than 10 years, serving as v.p. of Southeast merchandising and director of non-foods merchandising.
Penick, who joined Food Lion earlier this year as s.v.p. of fresh merchandising and distribution, now has responsibility for Food Lion's dry and fresh merchandising, including category management, and the company's distribution and transportation network.
Penick formerly served as v.p. of merchandising with Kroger's King Soopers division in Denver. Prior to that, he held a number of leadership positions with Kroger, including group vice president of perishables, v.p. of merchandising, meat director, and store manager.
In other news, Food Lion said yesterday that its stores have raised $589,543 for the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.
"Food Lion has been proud to partner with its customers to assist those impacted by the recent Gulf Coast hurricanes," said Mark Messier, Food Lion v.p. of retail services. "We thank our customers for their caring spirit and great generosity."
