The Food Emporium Welcomes 'Taste of Africa' Collection

To introduce the African food collection in its stores starting Sept. 19, The Food Emporium said it will host a Sept. 20 ribbon-cutting event at its flagship BridgeMarket location, with the consulate general of South Africa, Bing Alo-Villareal, in attendance.

The all-natural foods featured in the "Taste of Africa" collection include Zena fruit jams; Elephant Pepper spices and sauces; Nando's Marinades and Peri Peri sauces; Zoe Diva Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Sherry Riserva Vinegar; Mrs. Ball's Chutney; and Caranda coffees, teas, and hot cocoa selections.

Following the ribbon cutting will be a sampling of hors d'oeuvres featured in the collection, and a wine tasting to highlight the wines chosen to complement the foods.

In other news, The Food Emporium's sister chain, Pathmark, will mark its 40th anniversary Sept. 13 with celebrations at all 139 stores in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. Special features will include giveaways, discounts, and for the kids, free bakery department cupcakes for the first 40 child visitors to a store, free stickers at checkout, and a scavenger hunt and coloring contest.

Both The Food Emporium and Pathmark are banners of Montvale, N.J.-based A&P.
