The Food Emporium Offers Arty Bag for a Good Cause

The Food Emporium has teamed up with 3D pop artist Charles Fazzino on a special-edition reusable bag design that will be exclusive to the A&P banner’s Manhattan stores. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the bags will go to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Debuting next month, “Fazzino’s Fabulous NY Apple” will be the first in a series of limited-edition collectible bags made from 100 percent post-consumer recycled materials and featuring the work of distinguished artists and designers.

To kick off the bag series, Ron Marshall, president and CEO of the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co.; Hans Heer, SVP of The Food Emporium; and Fazzino will unveil the artists’ creation June 1 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the 810 Eighth Ave. store. During the event, customers will be able to get their bags signed by Fazzino, as well as take part in raffles giving away some of his original 3-D pop art.

On June 2 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Fazzino will appear at the same location for an additional signing session and more raffles.

One of the most popular and highly collected pop artists of all time, Fazzino has had his art shown in more than 20 countries in hundreds of art galleries and museums.
