Food City's Race Against Hunger Takes Off Again

K-VA-T Food Stores, Inc. d/b/a Food City next month will participate in the annual Food For All campaign to raise funds for local non-profit hunger relief organizations, a program the chain has supported since 1992.

The holiday promotion, Race Against Hunger, is co-sponsored by Miller Brewing Company, Kellogg’s, and Food for All, a non-profit organization dedicated to building a hunger-free world.

Beginning Oct. 26 and running through Dec. 6, Food City customers can make a donation to at any checkout by purchasing a $1, $3, or $5 donation coupon that is scanned and added to the order total.

Customers who use their Food City ValuCard will also be electronically entered in a contest to win their choice of tickets to every event at Bristol Motor Speedway for the coming year or a $2,500 contribution to their favorite charity, the grocer said.

“Last year, the program was a huge success, raising over $237,500,” said Steve Smith, Food City’s president and c.e.o. “With the support of our loyal customers and associates, we hope to raise even more funds to aid this vital need.”

Smith has challenged K-VA-T’s store managers to exceed last year’s total by $50,000.
