FMI’s Sarasin Headlines New ‘Industry Talk’ Episode
Leslie Sarasin, president and CEO of the Food Marketing Institute (FMI), headlines the latest installment of Progressive Grocer and DemandTec’s exclusive Industry Talk interview series .
During the interview with PG</I>’s Editor-in-Chief Meg Major, Sarasin discusses FMI’s dedication to creating a “culture of service”— one that focuses on the needs of its members via services and programs designed to help them achieve specific goals for their companies. Sarasin also describes how the Washington-based trade association is helping its members through this difficult economic cycle with programs that help take “cost out of the equation,” including, but not limited to, legislative reform and other efforts with supply chain trading partners.
Sarasin also discusses other timely issues, such as food safety and health and wellness, during the latest Industry Talk episode, foremost to which is FMI’s and GMI’s Nutrition Keys front-of-pack nutrition labeling initiative. Developed in response to a request from First Lady Michelle Obama in March of last year, the voluntary initiative will provide important nutrition information (calories, saturated fat, sodium and total sugar content) on the front of packages in a simple and easy-to-use format.
