Flu Shots Now at Winn-Dixie

With autumn just a month away, grocers’ thoughts turn to cold and flu season, and Winn-Dixie Stores Inc. is ready to meet customer requests for flu vaccinations, which are now available at all of the chain’s in-store pharmacies. Customers can get the flu shot for the discounted rate of $24.99 if they present a Winn-Dixie Customer Reward Card.

“The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that people get a flu vaccine as soon as it becomes available in their community,” noted John Fegan, VP of pharmacy for Jacksonville, Fla.-based Winn-Dixie, which operates 484 retail grocery locations, including 374 in-store pharmacies, in Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, Georgia and Mississippi. “With the flu season approaching, our skilled and knowledgeable pharmacists are now able to offer guests quick and easy options to receive the flu vaccine while grocery shopping -- either on the go or by appointment. This is one of many benefits people will find at their neighborhood Winn-Dixie.”

Additional pharmacy services at the grocer include daily free blood pressure checks, convenient refills through the “Ready Refill” program, inexpensive health screenings such as cholesterol or diabetes, and female and male wellness screenings.

If they prefer not to receive a shot on a walk-in basis, shoppers can schedule an appointment online at www.winndixie.com/pharmacy.

Winn-Dixie pharmacies provide a regular flu shot approved for people ages 6 months and older and a high-dose flu shot approved for people 65 and older. Certain age restrictions may apply in some states with regard to pharmacist administration of vaccinations.
