Flowers Foods Recalls Bread for Metal
CHICAGO -- Flowers Foods, Inc. on Wednesday said it's voluntarily recalling 19 types of bread because they may contain small pieces of metal mesh screen.
Mary Krier, director of corporate communications, said fewer than 150,000 units were recalled, and a majority of them are recovered and in the company's possession, Reuters reports.
There were no reports of injuries from the pieces of metal, which she said were caused by a "manufacturing problem."
The affected bread has a "best by" stamp with the following dates and codes: Aug 2nd 155 0227, Aug 3rd 155 0237, Aug 5th 155 0257, Aug 6th 155 0267, and Aug 8th 155 0267 (raisin and banana bread only).
The bread was sold in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia, as well as in parts of Kentucky, Texas, New Mexico, and South Carolina; eastern Oklahoma; extreme southeastern Kansas; southern Missouri; and southern Ohio.
