First Data Advances Universal Commerce with New Innovations

Electronic commerce and payment processing solutions provider First Data Corporation, in a continuing effort to power a new era of Universal Commerce, has introduced new innovations aimed at providing consumers more secure and flexible payment options as well as streamlining once complex processes for merchants.

“First Data continues to advance universal commerce for consumers, merchants and financial institutions through products and enhancements highlighted in our latest quarterly release,” said Mark Herrington, EVP of Global Product Management and Innovation, First Data. “These innovations are both providing consumers with exciting new ways to interact at the point of sale as well as enabling our merchants to streamline and automate some of their business operations.”

The new products are:

  • First Data FD35 PIN Pad: The FD35 PIN Pad is a comprehensive, consumer-facing device that not only accepts PIN-based debit transactions and swipes traditional payment cards, but is enabled to accept chip-and-PIN cards (aka EMV), contactless cards, mobile payments and key fobs.
  • First Data SNAP!: Leveraging technology delivered through the iPad2, First Data SNAP! (Sales Navigation Application) is a portable interface that offers a single entry point into First Data’s product suite, generates all necessary paperwork, and collects an electronic signature so merchants can begin accepting payments in no time.
  • First Data OfferWise Solution: The OfferWise solution is an open platform that allows offer publishers to electronically attach offers such as deals, eCoupons and loyalty programs to one or more of a consumer’s payment cards or mobile wallets to enable automatic redemption of the offer at the point of sale. The OfferWise solution can link to any type of payment card including all major credit association brands, PIN or signature debit.
  • First Data Rapid Comply Solution: The PCI Rapid Comply solution is an easy-to-use online Self-Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ) and vulnerability scanning tool that can help small to mid-sized merchants achieve and maintain Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) compliance. PCI Rapid Comply can minimize the volume of SAQ questions merchants must answer by as much as 85 percent, according to FirstData.
