Festival Foods Buys 2 Pierce’s Supermarkets

Festival Foods is purchasing two Pierce’s Supermarkets in Baraboo and Portage, Wis. Brother-sister team Angie and Dave Pierce operate a third store in Muscoda, Wis.

The two stores will begin operating under the Festival banner on June 20th.

“We are pleased that we were able to reach an agreement with the Pierce family that will result in a continuation of family-owned grocery stores in the area now and far into the future,” said Mark Skogen, president and CEO of De Pere, Wis.-based Festival Foods, which operates 26 supermarkets in the state. “We are honored to join these historic and still-thriving Wisconsin communities.”

The Pierces’ grandparents opened the first Pierce Supermarket in 1924.

“This will be a good transition from one family to another,” said Angie Pierce, president of Pierce’s Supermarkets. She added her family treasures the community's support of the business over the past 93 years. “We are confident that Festival Foods will carry on the tradition of providing quality products and excellent service that began with my great-grandparents."
