Farm Fresh Helps Shoppers Hit the Jackpot

Farm Fresh Food & Pharmacy and the Virginia Lottery have launched an exclusive “Farm Fresh Fast $500” two-dollar scratch ticket. The partnership – the first between the Viriginia Lottery and a supermarket operator to create a grocery-specific game -- will also provide a second-chance sweepstakes in which players will be able to enter non-winning tickets to get free groceries for up to three months.

As its name implies, ticket offers a top prize of $500. Each of the four second chance drawings will feature a grand prize of a $1,200 Farm Fresh gift card. Additional prizes for each drawing will be Farm Fresh gift cards of $800, $400 and $100. Shoppers can find more information on how to enter their non-winning tickets at www.valottery.com/farmfresh.

“We believe we have created something that will help extend the Farm Fresh brand,” said Gaelo de la Fuente, president of Virginia Beach, Va.-based Farm Fresh.“Obviously, it’s always fun to win money, but what really makes this sweepstakes personal to Farm Fresh is the second-chance drawing that provides the opportunity for us to help people offset their grocery costs.”

“Not only does [the game] include great prizes for winners, but every ticket, win or lose, helps raise money for Virginia’s K-12 public schools,” added director Paula Otto, executive director of the Richmond-based Virginia Lottery, which raised more than $430.2 million for the commonwealth’s public schools in fiscal year 2010 – about 8 percent of state funding for public education in Virginia.
