Ex-Target Exec to Lead Family Dollar's Global Sourcing
MATTHEWS, N.C. -- Discount chain Family Dollar Stores, Inc. has tapped a former Target executive to oversee its global sourcing strategy, which now includes about 40 percent of its merchandise.
In his new position as s.v.p. - global sourcing, Wook Lee will have responsibility for the development of Family Dollar's comprehensive sourcing strategy. He will report to Robert George, e.v.p. - merchandising.
"Today, approximately 40 percent of our merchandise is manufactured globally," said Howard R. Levine, chairman and c.e.o. of Family Dollar, in a statement. "Enhancing our global sourcing capabilities will enable us to improve merchandise quality and lower our production and supply chain costs."
Lee's extensive retail experience includes nine years with Target Corp., where his last position was global v.p. of production service. Most recently, Lee served as president of A & O Consulting, a consulting group that provides advisory services to multi-national apparel development and manufacturing companies, with production facilities in China, Southeast Asia, and Central America.
With more than 6,300 stores in a 44-state area ranging northwest to Idaho, northeast to Maine, southeast to Florida, and southwest to Arizona, Family Dollar is one of the fastest-growing discount store chains in the United States.
