Ex-Kings CEO to Oversee Winn-Dixie's Merchandising and Marketing

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc. said on Friday it has named Dan Portnoy, former president and c.e.o. of Parsippany, N.J.-based Kings Super Markets, as s.v.p. and chief merchandising and marketing officer, as part of its realignment of its merchandising and marketing departments.

Portnoy will join the company in mid-July, replacing Tom Robbins, who will retire after having been associated with Winn-Dixie since 2005 as s.v.p., the company said. Dave Henry will continue to serve as s.v.p., marketing, reporting directly to Portnoy.

Before working with Kings Super Markets, Portnoy was s.v.p. of Cott Corp., the world's largest retailer branded manufacturer. Portnoy is also credited with several executive-level positions with Daymon Worldwide, American Stores, and Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co.

The 521-store Winn-Dixie chain emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection late last year.
