East Coast Tea Show to Bow in September

SFG Group, LLC, producer of the World Tea Expo, will offer a second event, World Tea East. The new regional conference and pavilion will be co-located with Natural Products Expo East, scheduled for Sept. 23 through Sept. 26 at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center. The new event will include an East Coast edition of World Tea Expo’s popular New Business Boot Camp (NBBC).

According to George Jage, president of Las Vegas-based SFG, World Tea East responds to demand for specialty tea education by East Coast-based industry members who can’t get to Las Vegas for World Tea Expo in May, provides a sourcing opportunity for holiday product at an opportune time in the tea-buying cycle, and unites knowledge, products and connections from the country’s top specialty tea trade show with the natural products market.

“We’ve had numerous requests to offer our program to people in the northeast United States, but we didn’t want to have a second, independent show,” noted Jage. “Our partnership with Natural Products Expo East is a perfect solution to fill the needs of the industry through a more robust platform.”

The intensive three-day NBBC, which will run from Sept. 22 through Sept. 24, will offer aspiring tea entrepreneurs direct interaction with industry leaders. The World Tea East Core Conference, with sessions designed for established business owners, will run Sept. 23 and Sept. 24. Additionally, the World Tea Pavilion will feature exhibits dedicated to specialty tea within the Natural Products Expo show floor, which will be open Sept. 24 through Sept. 26.

World Tea East organizers also will host the World Tea Championship Winners Tasting on the evening of Sept. 23, at which attendees will be able to sample winning teas from the annual World Tea Championship.

“Specialty tea is a rising star in the natural products industry, so it makes perfect sense for us to partner with the leaders in the specialty tea community,” observed Alan Peterson, SVP of Boulder, Colo.-based New Hope Natural Media, which produces Natural Products Expo East.
