Earth Fare Preps for Growth with New Real Estate V.P

ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- Natural and organic retailer Earth Fare Market here is positioning itself for more regional growth with the addition of former Bi-Lo exec Bart Coleman as its new v.p. of real estate and development.

Coleman spent 15 years with Bi-Lo supermarkets, the past 11 as v.p. of real estate. Prior to that, he was with Fleming Companies Mid-America Region in Kansas City as the regional store development manager, and the Kroger Co. in the Indianapolis, Atlanta, and Charlotte, N.C. divisions.

Earth Fare's current plans call for two stores in 2007: one in Augusta, Ga., and the highly anticipated second Charlotte store in South Park. In 2008, the chain said it anticipates growth to begin to move forward at four to eight stores per year.

The company said Jim St. Charles, Earth Fare's previous v.p. of real estate and construction, will now be v.p. of construction and engineering, and will continue to oversee the building of future Earth Fare facilities.

Earth Fare Market & Cafe operates 11 stores throughout the Southeast. The company's most recent addition is a new 40,000-square-foot warehouse with consolidated office space in Fletcher, N.C.
