Drugstore Marketing Whiz to Help Retailers with Loyalty Programs
MORRISTOWN, N.J. -- Gary Charboneau, a drugstore marketing veteran who launched the Duane Reade Dollar Rewards program, has joined the advisory board at Cartwheel LLC, a loyalty marketing consultancy based here.
Most recently, Charboneau was s.v.p. of marketing and merchandising for Duane Reade in New York. Prior to that he was e.v.p. of marketing at CVS.
Throughout his career Charboneau has been a pioneer in using shopper data to drive retailer merchandising and marketing decisions. In 1999, he successfully launched the Duane Reade Dollar Rewards program, which at the time was a breakthrough for the drug store industry. The Dollar Rewards program continues to be a key tool in the Duane Reade marketing mix.
"I believe there is great untapped potential for retailers across channels to more effectively use the shopper information generated by loyalty programs to build their business," said Charboneau in a statement.
Cartwheel LLC was formed in 2003 by Larry Aronson, formerly president, Revlon Sales and Customer Marketing, and John Wilson, formerly director of marketing Pfizer US. The company specializes in working with retailers to deliver improved business performance through new or improved loyalty programs.
