Doug Sanders Named COO at Sprouts Farmers Market
SCOTTSDALE, Arizona - Natural and organic foods retailer Sprouts Farmers Market yesterday said it appointed Doug Sanders c.o.o. in July.
"Doug has the unique set of skills, drive and passion necessary to lead Sprouts forward with our aggressive growth plans," said Shon Boney, c.e.o. of Sprouts. "Since joining the Sprouts team in 2002, Doug has helped maintain its unique market niche and provided expertise to allow for the rapid growth."
Boney added that having Doug in this role will assist with the strategic development between and within key departments for the successful execution of Sprouts store growth.
Sanders, who was officially named c.o.o. in July, joined Sprouts Farmers Market in 2002 as IT director. As the company grew from inception to the current 17 stores, he was promoted to v.p. of IT, and c.a.o.
Prior to Sprouts, Sanders was senior project manager for TCI Solutions, where he interfaced with various retail grocery chains, specializing in the independent/privately held stores. Other previous roles included several management positions within Brookshire Brothers over a span of 11 years, and as a retail business consultant for Associated Wholesale Grocers.
"I see endless potential with the Sprouts concept," said Sanders. "Our biggest advantage is that we are not a typical grocery store, we are fun, refreshing concept that can appeal to both the health-oriented consumer and the everyday grocery shopper."
Sprouts operates 17 locations in Arizona, Texas, and Southern California, and plans to open 50 stores in 5 years.
