Safeway’s Chicago-based Dominick’s Finer Foods division has launched a new online digital coupon savings program, "Just For U," which appears as an icon on Dominicks.com. The program leads shoppers into a portal where they can download savings from numerous manufacturers and in-store deals onto their Fresh Values loyalty card.
Shoppers will be able to secure extra discounts and bypass using paper coupons in stores when they sign up online with their shopper loyalty cards.
"This will change the way people shop for groceries," Dominick's CEO Don Keprta was quoted as saying in published reports, which cited other retailers’ digital coupon initiatives, including those of Kroger and Meijer, the latter of which recently rolled out a digital coupon platform -- Mperks -- tied to text-enabled mobile phones vs. a loyalty card.
In addition to offering a customized shopping list that can be e-mailed and printed, Just for U will personalize and sort coupons online based on shopper habits and purchase history.
Safeway, Dominick's Pleasanton, Calif.-based parent, tested Just For U at 19 stores in Hawaii prior to the full scale launch in Dominick's 79 Chicago-area stores.
