Dollar Store Show to Focus on Food
LAS VEGAS - The next Dollar Store Expo, to be held June 16 to 17 here, will feature a "Food Pavilion" show within a show, along with items priced up to $5 to reflect the changing nature of the dollar store industry.
"There has been such a demand on food, candy, etc., that we felt a great addition would be a focused pavilion dedicated to these products," said Kristina Mullen, show manager. "Buyers who are specifically looking for foodstuffs can streamline their business transactions by not having to disseminate through the rest of the vendors."
The show is broadening its audience from just dollar stores to include supermarkets, convenience stores, gas stations, and other outlets that are entering into the dollar store field. "We have upped the ante, endorsing products which will retail up to $5," Mullen said. "We're dedicating the 2004 national show to an entire retail market, not just dollar stores. Our goal is not to deviate from our original concept, but to expand with the industry by allowing additional price points to attract a wide range of buyers and products."
