Dollar General Names Prez of Store Ops, Development

GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. -- Discount retailer Dollar General Corp. said on Friday it has promoted Kathleen Guion to division president of store operations and store development.

Guion, who joined the company in 2003 as e.v.p. of store operations, is now responsible for more than 7,800 stores, and the company's real estate growth strategies. She reports to c.e.o. David Perdue.

"Kathleen's leadership on a number of initiatives has helped our stores improve in key areas," said Perdue in a statement

Prior to joining Dollar General, Guion was the president and c.e.o. of Duke and Long Distributing Company, a convenience store operator and wholesale distributor of petroleum products. Before that, she was an operating partner for Devon Partners, where she developed operating plans and assisted in the identification of acquisition targets in the convenience store industry.

Additionally, Guion served as president and c.o.o. of E-Z Serve Corp., an owner/operator of convenience stores, mini-marts, and gas marts. Guion has also served as the v.p. and g.m. of the largest division of company-owned stores at 7-Eleven, Inc.

Dollar General operates 7,872 neighborhood stores that include food, snacks, health and beauty aids, and cleaning supplies, as well as a selection of basic apparel, housewares, and seasonal items at everyday low prices.
