Delhaize U.S. Banners Choose New Payment Solution

SCARBOROUGH, Maine and TAMPA, Fla. -- Delhaize banners Hannaford Bros. Co. and Sweetbay Supermarket have selected the new consumer-facing VeriFone MX830 from VeriFone Holdings, Inc. as their next-generation payment solution. The retail group will implement the PCI PED-approved MX830 phones first in new and renovated Hannaford stores in the Northeast, and Sweetbay stores in Florida.

Said Hannaford director of retail automation Kevin Carleton in a statement: “VeriFone has developed a payment product that meets our needs for the latest in customer-activated capabilities. The MX830 provides great graphics in a highly durable form that will meet the rigorous requirements at our checkout counters.”

A major requirement for Hannaford’s payment solution choice was the ability to integrate the MX830 with WinEPS Electronic Payments software from MTXEPS, Inc. WinEPS is a payment engine that provides such electronic payment options as debit and credit transactions and EBT, gift card, and check authorization.

The MX830 is the latest member of the MX800 Series, a product family offering the most effective mix-and-match combination of payment devices in multilane retail environments. Created to meet the highest levels of security, the MX830 shares the architecture, software, and peripherals of the industry-leading MX870 multimedia system, and provides ultra-sharp on-screen graphics with 320x240 pixels on a ¼-VGA resolution 16-shade gray scale backlit screen.

The multilane payment product series provides retailers with a wide range of functions, from basic debit and credit payment acceptance to advanced capabilities such as electronic signature capture, multimedia branding, contactless payment, and smart-card acceptance.
