Dandy Vidalia Sweet Onions to the ‘Recipe Rescue’
Duda Farm Fresh Foods has launched a Facebook promotion starring its sweet Vidalia onions. The goal of “Sweet Vidalia Recipe Rescue” is to drive demand through the sharing of recipes and ideas for daily use with consumers.
“Dandy Vidalia sweet onions are peak of season, and we aim to educate consumers with regard to the product’s versatility,” said Nichole Towell, the company’s marketing development manager. “We know that Vidalia onions are America’s favorite onion, and we hope that this promotion simply helps consumers think outside of the box when it comes to using them.”
Each week, Duda Farm will present fans with various recipes featuring sweet Vidalia onions for nearly every daypart.
“From breakfast to dinner, we’ve got our consumers covered,” noted Duda Farm SVP Mark Bassetti. “Vidalia sweet onions are sold in bulk or two-, three- and five-pound bags, giving the consumer lots of options for usage throughout the week. Instead of simply slicing and serving, we’re going to equip consumers with simple and affordable recipe solutions that play into their summer weekly meal plan.”
As well as sharing recipes on Facebook, the company will give away a Dandy Vidalia onion rescue gift basket each week to one consumer for the duration of the promotion, which runs through July 30. The gift basket will include a bag of Dandy Vidalia sweet onions and Vidalia sauces and dressings.
A grower, shipper and marketer of fresh citrus and fresh and fresh-cut vegetables, Duda Farm Fresh Foods is a wholly owned subsidiary of DUDA, a family-owned, diversified land company in Oviedo, Fla.
