C&S Names Co-president
KEENE, N.H. – Distributor C&S Wholesale Grocers, Inc. here said yesterday it has promoted Mark Gross, its president of retail operations, to co-president of the company. In this new role, he will work hand in hand with Ron Wright, who has been president since 1998 and will now become co-president and c.o.o.
"Mark has done a fantastic job since joining us in 1997 and has played a key role in building C&S," said Rick Cohen, chairman and c.e.o. of C&S, in a statement. "Ron and I are creating an office of the president to incorporate Mark's remarkable talents and skills. Under Mark and Ron's leadership, we will accelerate the development of a C&S team that will lead us to even greater success."
Wright remains president of ES3, C&S' logistics affiliate, while Gross remains president of GU/Southern Family Markets, the wholesaler's retail affiliate.
Gross joined C&S in 1997 as s.v.p. and general counsel. He was named c.f.o. in 2001, and two years later became president of C&S' retail operations.
"Having experienced Mark's leadership with Fleming, GU, and numerous other new business relationships that have helped fuel $15 billion of new business, we are extremely proud to announce Mark’s promotion," noted Cohen.
Gross graduated from Dartmouth College with highest honors in the major, and received his law degree, cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining C&S, he was an attorney with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, LLP in New York. He has been a member of C&S' board of directors since joining the company.
