C&S Deploys Retalix Solutions to Boost Supply Chain Management
KEENE, N.H. -- C&S Wholesale Grocers, Inc. here is in the midst of a successful deployment of Retalix Supply Chain Management (SCM) Classic solutions across several of its grocery buying teams. The wholesaler also plans to implement several Retalix InSync modules, among them the Master Data Management (MDM) solution.
The solutions are replacing several custom legacy mainframe applications at C&S, the wholesaler said. Twelve selection sites have gone live with Retalix purchasing and invoice reconciliation solutions over the past three months, making the C&S deployments one of the fastest ever for a Retalix customer. Nineteen more selection facilities are scheduled to be converted to Retalix by end of the year.
"We selected Retalix software because it was developed in the grocery segment, and is sophisticated yet easy to implement with minimal modifications," said C&S s.v.p., finance and supply chain Jim Weidenheimer.
"Our partnership with C&S demonstrates how the nation's fastest-growing wholesaler ensures the quality and rapidness of their services with the assistance of Retalix supply chain solutions," added Retalix president and c.e.o. Victor Hamilton.
In other C&S news, the retailer recently presented the Village of Chester, N.Y., where it has a warehouse and distribution center, with a $10,000 check to help fund a full emergency preparedness plan, the Mid-Hudson News Network. The contribution will be applied to the total $15,000 to $20,000 price tag of the plan, which must be submitted to Orange County in the next few weeks.
The plan will address traffic flow and escape routes in case of an emergency requiring mass evacuation of the village, where C&S is reportedly planning a major expansion project.
C&S, the second-largest grocery wholesaler in the United States, operates 63 distribution facilities across 14 states and is the wholesaler for a number of Retalix customers, including Bi-Lo, Big Y, and A&P. The wholesaler provides 53,000 food and nonfood items to 4,000 corporate customers, including produce, meat, dairy products, delicatessen products, fresh/frozen bakery items, health and beauty aids, candy, and tobacco.
