C&S Charities Inc. has donated $1.65 million, raised through its 29th annual Tee Up For Kids charity golf outing, to six nonprofit organizations devoted to pediatric cancer and childhood hunger issues. The outing, which took place Aug. 5 -6, featured more than 960 golfers on four courses across three states.
The donations went to Children's Hospital at Dartmouth, Lebanon, N.H.; Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, Ashford, Conn.; Jimmy Fund/Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston; Feeding America, Chicago; Share Our Strength, Washington, D.C.; and The Community Kitchen, Keene, N.H.
This year's premium Hole-in-One sponsors were Ahold USA, Campbell's, Global Partners LP, Kellogg Co., Nestlé Purina Petcare, Nestlé USA, Oracle, O’Neill Consulting Group, RM Nephew and Associates LLC, and Ryder Integrated Logistics, while Acosta Sales & Marketing, Bank of America, Bi-Lo/Winn-Dixie, Capstone Logistics, Groom Energy Solutions, Hyundai Translead, JP Morgan Chase, Kimberly-Clark, Mintz Levin, and Wells Fargo Bank backed the event as Eagle sponsors. In total, more than 500 companies sponsored the tournament.
"This golf tournament brings together like-minded business partners and customers to have fun for good causes," said Rick Cohen, chairman and CEO of Keene-based C&S Wholesale Grocers, adding that the wholesaler's sponsors and employees were responsible "for making our event such a success year after year."
At the check presentation, John Walker, who helped establish the tournament in 1985 and is retiring from his event leadership role, received a special thank-you from Cohen.
The next C&S charity golf outing is slated for Aug. 4-5, 2015.
