C&S Associates Help Make a Difference -- Again

KEENE, N.H. -- For the fourth consecutive year, associates at C&S Wholesale Grocers, based here, volunteered to help local nonprofit groups as part of "National Make a Difference Day" on Oct. 28. The event involves over 3 million volunteers across the country.

This year's projects focused on food assistance organizations. Among the initiatives in which C&S employees took part were painting walls at the Hawaii Food Bank in Honolulu; moving and stocking shelves at the Fall Mountain Food Pantry in Langdon, N.H.; assembling food boxes at the Chester Food Pantry in Chester in Chester, N.Y.; and building a walkway at the Spirit of Women Shelter in Fresno, Calif.

"Make A Difference Day is about making a commitment and expressing compassion through action," noted C&S chairman and c.e.o. Rick Cohen in a statement. "Our associates volunteered and helped people; I'm proud that they got involved."

C&S, the eighth-largest privately held company in the nation, provides distribution services to grocery chains and independent stores, delivering to nearly 5,000 locations from its distribution centers in Alabama, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Vermont.
