Core-Mark Expands Into Eastern Canada; Inks Agreements With Couche-Tard

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- Core-Mark Holding Co., Inc. here said Friday it would to open a new distribution facility outside Toronto on Feb. 1, 2008, thereby expanding its existing geography in Canada. Core-Mark’s presence in the country currently stretches from British Columbia to western Ontario.

The company services several retail companies in western Canada that also operate in Ontario, among them Alimentation Couche-Tard, with which it has signed a long-term supply agreement for the c-store operator's Central Canada Region, consisting of over 600 stores in Ontario.

Additionally, Core-Mark and Couche-Tard recently renewed supply agreements for Couche-Tard's retail stores in western Canada and the western United States. The Canadian stores operate under the Mac's banner, while the U.S. stores operate under the Circle K banner.

Core-Mark c.e.o. Mike Walsh said the agreements would "further strengthen our business relationship with Alimentation Couche-Tard, clearly one of the most successful and innovative convenience retailers in North America."

Core-Mark, one of the largest broad-line, full-service wholesale distributors of packaged consumer products to the convenience retail industry in North America, provides distribution and logistics services as well as marketing programs to over 22,000 retail locations in 45 states and five Canadian provinces through 24 distribution centers, two of which Core-Mark operates as third-party logistics providers. Core-Mark services traditional convenience retailers, grocers, drug, liquor and specialty stores, and other stores that carry consumer packaged goods.
