Cooking Lessons for Kids Offered at Ring. Bros.

Ring Bros Marketplace is introducing its first-ever Kids’ Cooking Classes, which will take place Tuesday, Feb. 16 and Thursday, Feb. 18 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The cost is $25 for both sessions, or $15 for one session. The South Dennis, Mass.-based grocer encourages parents of children age 10 to 14 to call ahead for reservations, as space will be limited in the hands-on classes.

At the first class, which will focus on “Breakfast Basics,” attendees will learn how to make pancakes, French toast and such popular egg preparations as scrambled eggs and omelets. The Thursday class will teach children how to cook a spaghetti dinner consisting of a basic salad with homemade dressing, spaghetti and meatballs with fresh marinara sauce, and an apple crisp for dessert.

As well as learning the specific recipes, kids attending the class will learn about kitchen safety, how to read and follow a recipe, how to measure ingredients, basic nutrition and basic cooking skills. The store’s resident chef, Don Fallon, will preside over both sessions.
