Compare Foods Launches Swift Shopper Mobile App

Compare Foods, a supermarket chain with stores in New York City, Long Island, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, South Carolina and North Carolina, has deployed ezCommerce Solutions’ Swift Shopper app.

The free patented app -- developed for those retailers hesitant to invest in mobile point-of-sale -- enables consumers to scan items into their smart phones as they shop, eliminating the need for unloading and reloading carts at the checkout.

"At Compare Foods, we have always taken our customers' needs very seriously and we know that Swift Shopper will radically improve the customer experience at our stores,” explained Omar G. Jorge Peña, partner, Compare Foods. “By allowing our customers to use their mobile devices to scan as they shop, we will be saving them valuable time and money, two things particularly critical to our working-class clientele. We hope that by continuing to provide key ethnic products not available at other stores, and by now adding a new level of convenience to the shopping experience, we will encourage more repeat customers and earn new customers via positive word-of-mouth publicity.“

The app is free for shoppers, and the only requirement for retailers are dual-line handheld scanners that can read barcodes off of mobile devices, according to ezCommerce.

Compare Foods is currently piloting Swift Shopper at its Charlotte, N.C., store. Upon the successful completion of this three-month pilot, Compare will upgrade its scanning technology at its remaining eight N.C. locations and will deploy the app state-wide.

Future releases of the app will include coupon books, reward points and a shopping list.
