CMI Expands Food Safety Program

WENATCHEE, Wash. - Columbia Marketing International (CMI), one of Washington State's largest apple, pear and cherry shippers, has expanded its food safety operations with the hiring of Bob Carter as its new food safety director.

In his new capacity, Carter will work closely with food safety administrators throughout CMI's growing, packing and shipping operations to ensure CMI products meet or exceed present certifications. Under Carter's direction, CMI will add two stringent certifications to its current food safety program -- SQF Certification for CMI warehouses and EUREPGAP third party certification for CMI orchards.

Carter, who will also oversee CMI's organic certifications, has an extensive relevant professional background, including working with third party auditors to ensure grower/packer compliance, as well as the implementation and management of various conventional and organic certifications, including HACCP, SQF 2000/1000, EureGap, EU/EOVP, and NutriClean.

CMI's food safety program is an integral part of growing, harvesting, warehousing, packing, and shipping of CMI products, and consistently meets high quality standards.
