Chris Coborn Named North Dakota Grocer of the Year

Chris Coborn, president and CEO of Coborn’s Inc., St. Cloud, Minn., was named Grocer of the Year by the North Dakota Grocers Association. The winner is chosen based on store operations, individual standards, association service, contributions to the grocery industry, leadership, community service and activities.

Coborn was nominated by Tom Orwoll, area sales director for the northern region of Supervalu, who cited Coborn’s growth in North Dakota, including the newest stores in Jamestown, Watford City and Minot. Orowoll also noted that Coborn has served on several boards, including the National Grocers Association (NGA), Minnesota Grocers Association, Food Marketing Institute (FMI) and Topco as well as the company’s philanthropic work, such as donating 1.4 million meals in 2013 in partnership with Second Harvest Heartland as well as working with the Salvation Army and the Great Plains Food Bank.
