Choirs Sing For Their Supper at Hiller’s Markets

Michigan-based Hiller’s Markets will host school, church and synagogue choirs in metro Detroit in December for a fund-raiser called Sing for Your Supper, aimed at boosting support for school music programs.

Choirs will perform half-hour shows at Hiller’s locations in Union Lake, Plymouth, Northville, Ann Arbor and Commerce Township. Shoppers will be able to make donations to the participating choirs at Hiller’s registers; the grocer has pledged to match the donations.

“There have been massive budget cuts to music programs in schools,” said Justin Hiller, Hiller’s Markets VP. “This is a way we can help, and at the same time entertain customers as they shop. Hiller’s mission is to strengthen our community and supporting music education is a vital part of that.”

Jill Richardson, music teacher at Birmingham (Mich.) School District’s West Maple Elementary School, remarked: “Music has the ability to touch everyone in a unique way. We are all so excited and grateful to Hiller’s for the chance to participate in Sing for Your Supper this December.”

Founded in 1941, Hiller’s Markets showcases Michigan products with special shelf tags and partners with charities and organizations through cash register campaigns, scrip partnerships and many other collaborative community campaigns.
