Carrefour Migrates to Hypercom Integrated Payment Solution

International retailer Carrefour plans to deploy a server-based payment solution and more than 12,000 PIN Pads with contactless readers at 210 of its French hypermarkets and all of its fuel stations in France.

The retailer will use the Wynid secure payment solution from Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Hypercom. Carrefour already uses Wynid at 15,000 cash registers in its Market, City and Contact stores.

“Hypercom payment technology reduces this global retailer’s cost of accepting non-cash payment options and greatly improves operational efficiency,” said Philippe Tartavull, CEO and president of Hypercom. “In parallel, the solution gives Carrefour’s customers the ability to quickly and safely pay for their purchases.”

Based in Levallois-Perret, France, the Carrefour Group is the largest retailer in Europe, and the second largest worldwide, with more than 15,000 stores in 33 countries, in a variety of store formats, including hypermarkets, supermarkets, hard-discount, convenience stores, and cash-and-carry outlets.
